Alpha Flight Services
At the beginning of 2015, while we were employed by Alpha Flight Services at Sharjah International Airport, we were asked to design and project manage a new coffee shop development within the VIP terminal.
The coffee shop would be installed in an area of existing underutilised space, and transformed into a new quality cafe, meeting and function room. This is where many of the VIP guests and dignitaries would enter the airport and so the finish needed to be of a high standard. The space would also be used for celebration on National Day and other special occasions within the Airport calendar.
Before Construction
The new coffee shop was to be called “THE Café ” and had to reflect traditional Arabic style design, and to fit neatly into the terminal surroundings. We achieved this using local Arabic patterns on wooden paneling and decorative arches, and employed the use of tunable Red/Green/Blue LED lighting to allow different colour schemes and ambience to be created.
After Construction
Open to guests and customers
With a challenging time scale, IFS designed and carefully managed the project with the use of a local construction contractor. The new Cafe has been widely complimented.
